My entry into Homebrewing. The first beer is always exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time. I'm honestly not sure how this will turn out, right now I'm hoping for drinkable. This recipe will continue to change and get refined as APA/IPAs are my favorite styles of beer (at the moment).
Ingredients
- 6 lbs. Light LME
- 2 lbs. Crystal 20L
- 2 oz. Cascade (whole)
- 2 oz. Chinook (whole)
- Wyeast 1056 - American Ale
Procedure
- Put Grains into water and turn on heat
- Bring temp to 150F and steep for 30 minutes total
- Remove Grains and Add LME. Bring to Boil
- 60 min - 1 oz Cascade
- 30 min - 1 oz Chinook
- 5 min - 1 oz Cascade
Ferment
- Pitched Yeast Starter at ~75deg
- Airlock activity within 3 hours
- Racked into Secondary after 7 days with 1 oz. of Chinook (dry-hop)
- Hope to Keg in another 2 weeks
